Nightlife in Orlando: Fun for All Ages
Orlando, Florida is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, attracting merry-makers from all around the globe. Of course, the main attractions of the city is Walt Disney World and the abundance of other theme parks around the area, but what is there to do during the evening in Orlando? Surprisingly, for a family-oriented destination, Orlando’s nightlife is actually very lively and geared for fun.
Downtown Orlando tends to be a “young city”, and caters more to young people – teenagers and people in their early twenties. Because of this, it’s relatively easy to find lots of things going on during the weekend evenings! Downtown is filled with many local people as well as tourists, which offers a more “authentic” night out! Most of the bars and clubs stay open until at least 2am. In spite of the large amount of young people out having a good time, Orlando is a safe place to be.
‘The Social’ on Orange Avenue in the Downtown area is known locally as one of the best places to sample new up and coming musical acts. It has a very full calendar, with bands and artists of many different genres, both local and international, performing almost every night. The venue is small and friendly, and offers a full liquor bar. One of Orlando’s most unique nightclub experiences is ‘Pulse’, also on Orange Avenue. This club is split into three sections, each with a different theme – the Jewel Box, Ultra Lounge and Adonis. The Ultra Lounge hosts some of Orlando’s finest cabaret acts, the Jewel Box, as well as being a unique light and sound experience and dance floor, also has variety acts, comedy shows, art, fringe and drag acts.
Closer to all the hotels is City Walk, which is part of Universal, and Pleasure Island, which is also part of Walt Disney World. These are ideal for tourists who don’t want to venture too far, but still want to have a good time. City Walk has a vast array of different clubs to cater to all different musical tastes, including a reggae club, a techno club, a jazz club, and a Latin club. All the clubs can be accessed by purchasing a single pass, which then lets you wander freely between each of them. Pleasure Island is considered to be a little pricier than City Walk, but still offers an array of after-dark activities, namely lots of lively bars and clubs offering a wide array of musical genres and tastes.
Depending on your tastes and preferences, Orlando has something to offer everyone. Whether you want to stay within walking distance of your hotel, or travel a little further in to Downtown Orlando, there is always something nearby. Whether it’s a quiet drink with a few friends or a crazy night out in a disco, Orlando is bound to offer you exactly what you want.
